Jasmin Howanietz, an NYC hospitality industry veteran, has been appointed director of sales and marketing for the Waldorf Astoria New York. An integral member of the Waldorf Astoria New York sales team for more than 10 years, Howanietz, who was most recently the director of sales, brings a substantial and knowledgeable background to her new role with nearly 15 years of managerial sales and marketing experience.
As director of sales and marketing, Howanietz will determine appropriate strategies to maximize hotel revenues by driving business among groups, leisure and incentive travel. Using her extensive experience, Howanietz will support the Waldorf Astoria New York with strong marketing initiatives, solidifying the landmark property’s position as one of the premier hotels in New York City and a one-of-a-kind meetings and events destination. A statement to the Waldorf Astoria New York’s renowned True Waldorf Service, Howanietz will ensure the iconic hotel’s cornerstones, Unforgettable Experiences, Authentic Moments, and Inspirational Environments, are kept top-of-mind. Highlights include a renowned food and beverage program, recently-expanded rooftop garden event space and La Chine, the newly-opened modern, upscale Chinese restaurant.

Howanietz first joined the Waldorf Astoria New York in 2005, serving as the assistant director of sales in charge of meetings and conventions business development. Two years later, she assumed the position of director of diplomatic affairs, responsible for fostering strong relationships with numerous royal families, visiting delegations of the United Nations General Assembly and worldwide heads of state. Most recently, Howanietz led a team of 18 managers as director of sales, managing a multi-million dollar group revenue stream. Recognized for her sales and marketing leadership, Howanietz’ success was honored with multiple Circle of Excellence awards.
Prior to joining the Waldorf Astoria New York, Howanietz held the position of senior national sales manager at both the Hilton New York and Hudson Hotel as well as managerial sales positions at the Intercontinental New York Barclay. Howanietz attended the Hotel School of Salzburg, Austria where she earned a degree in hotel, motel and restaurant management. She then continued her education in hospitality at Johnson & Wales University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in hotel-restaurant and institutional management.
