Kimpton’s Hotel Solamar has announced the appointment of Shannon Foster as General Manager. Foster joined the team in June and is responsible for day-to-day hotel operations, guest relations and business development for the 235-room boutique hotel, including event space, the Jsix Restaurant and LOUNGEsix rooftop bar.
A seasoned industry leader, Foster comes to Hotel Solamar from Kimpton’s Hotel La Jolla, where she spent three years as a General Manager. Prior to relocating to San Diego in 2012, Foster spent five years managing operations at Hotels Monaco Chicago and Salt Lake City—both part of the Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants collection. She started her hospitality career as a director of operations for Sage Hospitality Resources.
“Hotel Solamar is Kimpton’s first San Diego boutique hotel and continues to be a popular choice for both business and leisure travelers,” said Shannon Foster, General Manager at Hotel Solamar. “Not only is it in one of the best downtown San Diego locations—in the heart of the Historic Gaslamp Quarter and the thriving East Village neighborhood—but it is also a beautiful property, with a great neighborhood restaurant. I’m thrilled to be part of the team here and look forward to further enhancing the guest experience.”
Foster holds a bachelor’s degree in hospitality business from Michigan State University. A native Midwesterner, Shannon enjoys soaking up the Southern California sunshine with her family, and exploring new restaurants and wine bars in downtown San Diego.
