Four Seasons will open Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown in 2016, its second hotel in the city, with 16-year company veteran Peter Humig at the helm.

Born and educated in Switzerland, Humig is a tri-lingual globetrotter who was most recently General Manager at the award-winning Four Seasons Resort and Residences Whistler.  No stranger to the American northeast, his previous assignments include management roles at Four Seasons hotels in Philadelphia and Washington, DC, providing him special insights into the diverse needs of international business travellers, urban explorers and the highly sophisticated local clientele.

“Peter is adept at creating one-of-kind guest experiences that will continue to set Four Seasons apart in a highly competitive market,” notes Chris Hart, President Hotel Operations – Americas.  “His passion and commitment to excellence, as evidenced by the loyal clientele and lengthy lists of accolades he built in his previous positions, make him the ideal person to lead our team and welcome Four Seasons guests in Lower Manhattan.”

The sleek new hotel is located in Tribeca, with Wall Street and Soho just a short city stroll away.

“With the recent opening of the new World Trade Center, Lower Manhattan is experiencing a rebirth, and Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown is right in the middle of all the action and excitement,” says Humig.

Designed by leading New York-based firm Robert A.M. Stern Architects, Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown is an all-new 82-story addition to the world’s most famous skyline. Its profile complements classic New York architecture, including the famed Woolworth Building nearby. Inside, light, modern interiors for 185 elegant rooms and suites have been conceived by internationally-acclaimed Canadian design firm Yabu Pushelberg.  Additional Hotel features include an exclusive full-service spa and fitness facility with a 75 foot (23 metre) indoor lap pool, and naturally-lit event spaces for business meetings, conferences and social gatherings of up to 250 guests.  Details on the Hotel’s street level restaurant and bar will be revealed shortly.

The building is also home to 157 Four Seasons Private Residences at 30 Park Place.
