Stefan Thumiger appointed new Chief Operating Officer of Treasure Bay Bintan

Landmarks Berhad has announced the appointment of Mr. Stefan Thumiger as the new Chief Operating Officer of Treasure Bay Bintan. Mr. Thumiger comes on board in September 2015 and will be in charge of the overall business performance of the 338-hectare development including its owned and managed properties, and strategic partnerships. In his role, he will work with the team on day-to-day operations and will oversee the hospitality division. Thumiger will report to Mr. Fong Chee Khuen, Group Chief Operating Officer of Landmarks Berhad.

He has strong expertise in the region with a great network among other industry leaders and partners. An experienced hotelier with over two decades of global experience, Mr. Thumiger has turned around hotel assets and repositioned them for success. Prior to his current role, he was the Area General Manager for Banyan Tree and Angsana Bintan. He spent over a decade in Asia with the Banyan Tree Group where he was involved in pre-openings and all operational aspects the group’s properties in Bintan, Bangkok, Seoul, Macau and Dubai.

Mr. Thumiger held a variety of positions within international hospitality groups in diverse luxury hotels, before moving from Switzerland to Australia in 1992. They include the Burswood Resort Hotel & Casino in Perth, Hotel Sol Melia in Indonesia, the Le Meridien Resort & Casino in Vanuatu, and Hilton International in Egypt, Turkey and Abu Dhabi.

Treasure Bay Bintan will be developed in three phases and parts of Phase One development will soft launch in September 2015. Phase One development currently includes international and boutique brands such as Canyon Ranch Bintan, Crystal Lagoons, Chill Cove, The Canopi Resort, Mercure and Ibis Budget.
