Farncombe Estate near Broadway in the Cotswolds has appointed Tom Aspey as General Manager of its two hotels; the boutique hotel Dormy House and the newly opened Foxhill Manor – an eight-bedroom private house hotel.
Commenting on the new appointment, Andrew Grahame, CEO of Farncombe says “We are delighted to have Tom on-board. He has an incredible track record in the hospitality industry. As a highly-accomplished manager and with a natural empathy for the Cotswolds, I know both Dormy House and Foxhill Manor will benefit enormously.
Aspey – who grew up in the area – has spent more than 16 years in hospitality and has all the experience required to manage a multifaceted project that includes not just the two hotels, but also a spa, four F&B outlets and other Estate activities. With his experience first and foremost in food and beverage – in fine dining, brasserie style operations, functions and events – Tom will also be key to the success of the foodie operations across the estate.
He moves to Farncombe from the Soho House Group which he joined in 2010. For Soho House Group he worked at Café Boheme & Boheme Kitchen & Bar – where he stayed for two years – followed by Highroad House in Chiswick – his first hotel operation. Here he was responsible for fourteen bedrooms, a members club, events space and European brasserie. In September 2013 he was promoted to General Manager of Dean Street Town House hotel and oversaw its 39-guestrooms and busy all-day dining operations.
Prior to this, Aspey worked for the Savoy Group, Lygon Arms in Broadway, Axis restaurant at No.1 The Aldwych and he also ran his own gastropub in North London.
Dormy House, where Tom will be based, is a 38-room hotel and spa which underwent a complete transformation and re-opened in August 2013. It is part of the 400 acre Farncombe Estate which is also home to the grade II listed Foxhll Manor. Foxhill Manor is a 1909 building, built by local Cotswolds craftsmen and designed by Yorkshire-born architect Joseph Lancaster Ball, one of the leading lights of the Arts & Crafts movement. It opened as an eight-bedroom private house hotel on 10 March 2015.
