Sanjiv Hulugalle has been appointed General Manager of the new Four Seasons Resort O‘ahu at Ko Olina. With a career at Four Seasons spanning nearly 20 years, Hulugalle is an experienced General Manager having been at the helm of another recent property opening, Four Seasons Hotel Beijing. This month, Hulugalle will make the transition to Ko Olina to lead the pre-opening team as the hotel prepares to welcome guests in early 2016.
Joining Four Seasons in 1996 as Health Club Supervisor in Sydney, Hulugalle’s career has taken him around the globe, leaving his mark at 12 Four Seasons properties over the past 18 years including Las Vegas, Vancouver, Toronto, Langkawi, Damascus and Maldives Kuda Huraa, among others. Having taken on progressively more senior roles within the organisation, Hulugalle was recently appointed General Manager and Rooms Lead for the Asia Pacific region.
“Four Seasons Resort O‘ahu at Ko Olina, situated on the breathtaking western coastline of Oahu, is the perfect complement to our existing portfolio of resorts in the state of Hawaii,” says Chris Hart, President Hotel Operations, Americas. “As a dedicated leader with a passion and proven track record for delivering exceptional guest experiences, Sanjiv is ideally suited to bring Four Seasons luxury to discerning guests wishing to explore the beauty of Ko Olina.”
Four Seasons Resort O‘ahu at Ko Olina, a luxury beach resort also featuring Four Seasons Private Residences, is located in an exclusive gated enclave with easy access to the Honolulu International Airport. Nearby the beachside resort, guests can enjoy outdoor adventure, Waikiki’s shopping and nightlife, Honolulu’s urban attractions and significant historic monuments including Pearl Harbor.
The existing property will undergo a complete transformation to be characterised by an authentic Kama’aina-style featuring open air public spaces and generous light-filled rooms and suites. The classic design of the original architect Edward Killingsworth will be complemented by contemporary details inspired by the local culture.
“I am honoured to have the opportunity to lead the opening of Four Seasons Resort O‘ahu at Ko Olina,” Hulugalle comments on his new role. “The tranquility of the location set amid a stunning natural oasis while in close proximity to Waikiki and Honolulu will appeal to all types of travellers – couples, multigenerational travellers and corporate clients alike.”
The new tropical resort will offer 358 guest rooms and suites with ocean views and newly conceptualised restaurants. The property will also boast a world class spa and wellness centre, tennis centre, modern meeting spaces, a sophisticated Club Lounge, and privileged access to the Ko Olina Golf Club.
