Pan Pacific Hotels Group has announced new General Manager appointments at its two most widely lauded hotels in Singapore. Veteran Singaporean hoteliers, Gino Tan (above) and Tina Sim will take charge of the 790-room Pan Pacific Singapore and the 367-room PARKROYAL on Pickering respectively.
After a year at the helm of PARKROYAL on Pickering where he led the property to achieve all-round commendable performance and win the “Best New Business Hotel” title at the prestigious 2014 Business Traveller Asia-Pacific awards, Gino Tan moves on to become General Manager of Pan Pacific Singapore.
A landmark hotel at the heart of the downtown Marina Bay entertainment and business district, Pan Pacific Singapore underwent a S$80million transformation which saw it strengthen its competitive positioning amongst other luxury and business hotels in the city. The 28-year-old property has consistently been regarded as one of the best hotels in Singapore and has received numerous accolades from CondeNastTraveler, Travel + Leisure, World Travel Awards and TripAdvisor.
Gino leads the team at Pan Pacific Singapore with over 22 years of international hospitality experience. Prior to joining the Group last year, he had been General Manager of Millennium Hotel London Mayfair, Grand Millennium Beijing and the five-star New World Hotel in Dalian, China. In the first 15 years of his career, Gino honed his sales and marketing acumen with Omni Marco Polo Hotel in Singapore as well as with Raffles Hotels and Resorts’ properties such as Swissotel Merchant Court Singapore, Swissotel Beijing, Raffles Hotel Singapore and Raffles Beijing Hotel.
Taking over from Gino Tan as General Manager of PARKROYAL on Pickering is Tina Sim, who has almost three decades of operations and hotel management experience with leading global luxury brands such as Shangri-la, Westin, Ritz-Carlton, Conrad Centennial and Fullerton.
Notably, Tina enjoyed close to a 10-year tenure with the Shangri-la Group, managing Shangri-la and Traders hotels and resorts across Singapore. Most recently, Tina was General Manager, Special Projects at Shangri-La International Hotel Management Limited where she was responsible for renovation projects in Jakarta, Malaysia and Singapore.
Featuring a sustainable hotel-in-a-garden design concept, PARKROYAL on Pickering is strategically located beside bustling Chinatown and at the gateway to the Raffles Place financial district. Since opening in 2013, the hotel has won a multitude of architectural honours including the Reggie Shiu Development of the Year, World Gold Winner (Hotel) at the World Prix d’Excellence Awards, as well as the President’s Design Award for Design of the Year, Green Mark Platinum Award and Solar Pioneer Award in Singapore.
“As a hotel management company headquartered in Singapore which is also our largest operating market with eight hotels and serviced suites, we are delighted to appoint consummate hospitality professionals, Gino and Tina to steer two of the most distinguished hotels within our Singapore portfolio,” says Bernold O. Schroeder, Chief Executive Officer, Pan Pacific Hotels Group.
“The appointments reflect the Group’s commitment to provide our associates with rewarding career development opportunities and underscore our belief in nurturing home-grown talent to contribute towards the growth of Singapore’s hospitality industry. We warmly welcome Gino and Tina to our global leadership team and look forward to working with them to enhance the performance of Pan Pacific Singapore and PARKROYAL on Pickering, so as to solidify their reputations as leading hotels in Singapore and beyond.”
