Glion_Logo_1For professionals of the hospitality, tourism and service industries, Glion Institute of Higher Education is opening a new range of programs for professional development and career advancement, to be delivered online and on the Glion London campus.

In an economy where university graduates may struggle to find jobs, 85 percent of Glion students graduate with a job or multiple job offers. Glion is a top-ranked hospitality management school, with campuses in Switzerland and London. Every year, more than 100 international companies visit to recruit its interns and graduates who are known for the quality of their academic education, their professional and international experience and their leadership skills.

In addition to the bachelor degrees and postgraduate programs, Glion offers a 100 percent online accredited MBA and is now opening a new range of executive certificates for a similar student profile. The Online MBA program, which was introduced in 2010, now has almost 400 students studying on it and two graduated classes. Generally, Online MBA graduates are professionals in their mid-thirties who have a global career with over 10 years of experience. “These experienced managers enter the Online MBA because they are seeking tools and networking to enhance their careers even further”, mentions Anouk Tenten, Glion Senior Manager of Global Admissions and Market Development.

“Glion has numerous collaborations with industry partners for recruitment, advising on new program development, and sharing industry insights. Recently, we’ve received more requests from companies seeking to train and retain their staff. Therefore, we have developed the shorter executive courses and tailor-made training programs to meet the needs of organizations and executive managers,” Tenten says.

Glion’s professional courses and trainings are offered online, on-site or at the London campus, since London is an ideal location for offering executive courses, specified industry training and networking opportunities. In October 2014, Glion will launch the first face-to-face executive modules for the Online MBA students, and for individuals who want to have an executive certificate in a specific field, such as leadership, finance or marketing.  The intense 4-day module, followed by a 4-week online course, gives the same credits as one module of the MBA; allowing participants to collect credits to eventually finish with a full MBA.

Glion London campus facilities are located in South West London, just 40 minutes away from the city center, offers an ideal student-life environment and easy access to the attractions of this global city. The first batch of students attending the executive courses in London will have opportunity to combine studies with work and leisure. They will travel to London from all over the world to attend class, network with our industry-experienced faculty and campus students and visit their European headquarters.

The UK hospitality sector is predicted to grow steadily over the coming years, creating an ideal business environment for hospitality students at Glion London. Currently, the UK hospitality industry accounts for 8% of total UK employment, and the World Trade and Tourism Council also predicts that over the next ten years this industry’s contribution to global UK GDP will rise by 4% per year. More specifically, London is a main driving force behind the industry’s expansion with approximately 5,000 rooms opened in 2013.
