Conrad BaliÊtoday will serve sustainable, locally sourced coffee from Java Mountain Coffee, an indigenous social enterprise majority-owned by women.ÊTheir mission and U.N commitment is to empower 1 million women farmers and plant 3 million climate resistant coffee and shade trees by 2030.
Guests to Conrad Bali will now be able to enjoy Java Arabica and Mocha Java Blend that is harvested from the farm areas on Mount Batukaru in Bali and West Java. Guests staying in the suites and villas will enjoy the coffee, which is sealed in biodegradable coffee capsules, in the comforts of their own private space.
“Serving local coffee which is sustainably sourced in Indonesia underscores our commitment to provide guests with exceptional locally-inspired experiences. We are glad to be able to share this story about Indonesia with our guests through a cup of coffee,” said Frederic Lebegue, general manager of Conrad Bali. “Furthermore, this initiative supports Hilton’s commitment to strengthen local communities, promote equal opportunity for women and aligns with our global corporate responsibility strategy, Travel with Purpose.”
In March 2014, the company signed the CEO Statement of Support for the Women’s Empowerment Principles. The signing underscores Hilton’s commitment to support capacity building in three key areas of women in leadership, women as business partners as well as community partnerships that invest in women and girls through education, training and professional development.
“Java Mountain Coffee is proud to be Conrad Bali’s coffee purveyor and we are glad that this association highlights our shared value to contribute to measured environmental and socio-economic impacts to the most vulnerable women coffee farmers and farms in Indonesia.” said Nadine Alexandra, Spokeswoman of Java Mountain Coffee.
According to Conservation International, only 12% of the world’s coffee is sustainably sourced. For further information on how you can support, buy or get involved, please visit their website or contactÊinfo@javamountaincoffee.org.
