Winners presented at 16th annual SkŒl International Sustainable Tourism Awards

Photo_Winners group ska The 16th annual SkŒl International Sustainable Tourism Awards have been presented on 6 October 2017 in the framework of the 78th SkŒl World Congress Opening Ceremony held at the Hyderabad International Convention Center.

SkŒl International, an Affiliated Member of the UNWTO, has this year presented a special award to the best sustainable Tourism Destination on the occasion of 2017 declared International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development by the UNWTO. Winners in other categories are: Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge and Gamewatchers Safaris & Porini Camps from Kenya; Marine Dynamics Tours, Panthera Africa and Vineyard Hotel from South Africa; El Nido Resorts from Philippines; The Loma Jungle Lodge and Chocolate Farm from Panama; Lampivaara Amethyst Mine from Finland; y Okeanos Sustainable Sea Transport from Vanuatu.

With an attendance of over 500 participants at the event, the trend that tourism must be closely linked to sustainability is reaffirmed.
In recent years, the concern for the deterioration of the environment is a complex social trend that is resulting in the emergence of a new segment of consumers, the so-called green consumers.
