Radisson Blu has announced a global design contest inviting participants to customize the iconic egg chair, originally created by the legendary Danish architect and designer Arne Jacobsen for the SAS Royal Hotel, Copenhagen. The hotel, now the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, Copenhagen, is recognized as one of the world’s first designer hotels.
An expert jury will select the contest’s grand prize winner, who will receive a customized version of their winning egg chair design and a three-night VIP trip to Copenhagen, Denmark. The winning design may become part of the brand’s new interior design scheme that will launch later this year. In addition, a miniature travelling exhibition of the top 15 finalists will be displayed at selected Radisson Blu hotels around the world throughout 2016.
“While many new, award-winning Radisson Blu hotels have been built since 1960, the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, Copenhagen remains a unique example of contemporary design within the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group as well as the hotel industry,” said Rose Anderson, vice president Branding. “Radisson Blu continues to push forward its strong heritage and affiliation with design by working with the world’s top architects and designers to create spectacular and iconic landmark hotels.”
Radisson Blu guests and design enthusiasts will have the opportunity to design their very own egg chair using an online chair configurator at design.radissonblu.com. The contest runs from now through Oct. 13, 2015. Each week, three finalists will be selected, with two selected by the public and one selected by a member of the expert jury. The winning design will be chosen from the 15 finalists by the expert jury.
