TRYP by Wyndham brand arrives in SE Asia with first Philippines franchises

TRYP by WyndhamWyndham Hotel Group has entered into a franchise agreement to introduce its select-service lifestyle hotel brand, TRYP by Wyndham, to the Philippines.

Under the terms of the agreement with master franchisee Microtel Inns & Suites (Pilipinas) Inc., at least eight TRYP by Wyndham hotels will be developed in the country over 10 years, with the first property expected to open at the Mall of Asia in Pasay City in 2016. With this agreement, the Philippines becomes the first country in Southeast Asia to welcome the TRYP by Wyndham brand.

The agreement is a key step in Wyndham Hotel Group’s strategy to bring the brand to the Asia-Pacific region and other key markets around the world. The first TRYP by Wyndham locations in Mexico City and Abu Dhabi opened in April and March of this year, respectively.

TRYP by Wyndham hotels offer business and leisure travellers one part experience and one part destination with contemporary, unique lodging options in some of the world’s most cosmopolitan cities, including Brisbane, Barcelona, Paris, Lisbon, Berlin, Buenos Aires and New York City. The brand’s “Own the City” service culture, which openly displays passion for guests and for the cities in which TRYP by Wyndham properties are located, aims to ensure guests make the most of their travels. Wyndham Hotel Group’s president and managing director for South East Asia and Pacific Rim, Barry Robinson, said the expansion into the Philippines is an exciting milestone.

“We are thrilled to introduce TRYP by Wyndham to the Philippines as we look to expand the brand’s presence throughout Asia,” Mr. Robinson said. “The country is a unique destination that is growing in popularity and a place where the brand’s differentiating service culture and passion will resonate with travellers. We look forward to seeing the first of many TRYP by Wyndham hotels open in the country.”

Mr. Jose Mari Del Rosario, president and CEO of Microtel Inns & Suites (Pilipinas) Inc., said international and domestic tourism in the Philippines is on the rise and the TRYP by Wyndham brand will cater to those travelers looking for city-center lifestyle accommodations.

“Young urban professionals are constantly travelling now, combining work and leisure, and these travellers are a perfect fit for the TRYP by Wyndham concept,” Mr. Del Rosario said. “The brand experience will address that work-leisure niche.”

Microtel Inns & Suites (Pilipinas) Inc. is already the Master Franchisee in the Philippines for Wyndham Hotel Group’s Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham brand and has opened 13 hotels since introducing the brand to the country in 2001. Wyndham Hotel Group currently has 19 hotels open and operating in the Philippines under its Days Inn, Ramada and Microtel brand names.
