Carlson Rezidor to triple hotels in China in next 4 years

Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group today announced at the China Hotel Investment Conference (CHIC), plans to triple its number of hotels to over 50 in the next four years.

“We have an over-20-year history in China and increasing our footprint in the country is an integral part of our growth strategy in Asia Pacific,” said Thorsten Kirschke, president, Asia Pacific, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group. “In addition to the 50 hotels we plan to have in operation by 2019, we are moving forward aggressively to grow our presence and expand our pipeline in China further to deliver an even stronger growth trajectory.”

Carlson Rezidor has strong representation in key markets and secondary cities in China, including 14 hotels currently in operation and a growing pipeline. Carlson Rezidor plans to increase its presence in China in top-tier cities, strengthen its focus on development opportunities in emerging markets and introduce two new brands, Quorvus Collection, a curated set of luxury hotels and Radisson Red, an upscale lifestyle select brand that appeals to the millennial minded traveler.

Quorvus Collection is a curated selection of luxury hotels inspired by the lifestyle and sensibilities of the contemporary global traveler. Current members of the Quorvus Collection include: G&V Royal Mile Hotel Edinburgh, The Symphony Style Hotel Kuwait and soon to be added, The May Fair in London.

Radisson Red is an innovative hotel concept that is inspired by technology, design, art, music and fashion. Radisson Red provides guests a uniquely engaging and personalized stay experience and offers owners lower construction and operating costs than traditional full-service hotels due to a multi-functional approach to design and efficient space-planning.

With Radisson Red, the group is well positioned to capture the Chinese millennial traveler aged 25 – 34 which will make up more than a third of Chinese tourists by 2019.[1] Carlson Rezidor signed the first hotel for the brand in late 2014 — Radisson Red Shenyang Hunnan, which is scheduled to open in 2016.

In addition, Carlson Rezidor is proud to introduce the Park Inn by Radisson brand to China, with the signing of the 200-room Park Inn by Radisson Libo in the Guizhou province. The hotel is located at the entrance of Xiqikong National Park, close to the Daqikong karst site, which is part of the famous South China Karst UNESCO World Heritage site. Park Inn by Radisson Libo will be a newly constructed hotel and is owned by Libo Scenic Investment Co Ltd. The hotel is scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2016.

Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group currently operates the Radisson Blu and Park Plaza brands in China, in key cities such as Beijing and Shanghai, as well as secondary cities including Chongqing, Kashgar, Liuzhou, Tianjin and Wuxi with 14 hotels currently in operation and 28 hotels in development. The company is also working to seize opportunities in emerging cities including Dalian, Nanjing and Sanya, Shenzhen, Xiamen and Xi’an.
