Le Méridien Cyberport sets Guinness World Record of the largest coffee mosaic

Le Méridien Cyberport in Hong Kong has succeeded in setting a Guinness World Record of the Largest Coffee Mosaic during the event of HOFEX 2015, Asia’s leading Food & Hospitality Tradeshow. A total of 8,888 cups of coffee were arranged by over 70 hotel team members from Le Méridien Cyberport to create the coffee mosaic, depicting the UNICEF logo, as well as the hotel’s and the HOFEX event’s name.

“The achievement has not only bring the hotel team together to share a historic moment and set a Guinness World Record, but also promoting the local coffee culture in Hong Kong, as well as raising awareness of UNICEF among the public.” said Mr. Stephane Masse, the General Manager of Le Méridien Cyberport.

Mr. Chris Sun, the Master Barista of Le Méridien Cyberport, led the hotel team to use varying amounts of coffee and milk to achieve a 3-shade mosaic pattern. For the record to be set, each cup containing at least 200ml of coffee or coffee + milk, were poured into the coffee cups, verified by Ms. Lisa Hoffman, the Official Adjudicator from the Guinness World Records.

With the generous sponsor of event venue from HOFEX 2015, Asia’s leading Food & Hospitality Tradeshow; coffee from Redback Special Coffee; milk from CP-Meiji, the achievement has become a great success.

Representatives from Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc., Mr. Gavin MacLennan, Global Brand Director of Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts and Mr. Franz Zauner, the Global Master Barista of Le Méridien also witnessed this historic moment.

Ms. Esther Maasdam, the Le Méridien’s Global Latte Artist, who is also the Dutch Latte Art Champion in 2011-2014, as well as the 5th in the World Latte Art Championship, also showcased the latte art of Hong Kong Junk Boat / the Big Buddha to the public.
