Sheraton Macao Hotel, Cotai Central is pleased to introduce Junior Hotelier, its newest family-oriented initiative that allows kids to learn about operating a hotel while having fun along the way. These exciting weekend programs give four- to 12-year-old kids the opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge about running a hotel as they receive guidance from the hotel’s culinary, front desk, and housekeeping teams. Sheraton Macao Hotel will launch this fun new Junior Hotelier program during Easter weekend on April 4 and it will continue through June 28.
“The Junior Hotelier at Sheraton Macao is a special program that takes edutainment to new heights,” explained Mr. Josef Dolp, Sheraton Macao Hotel, Cotai Central Managing Director. “It is a rare opportunity for children to know the joy we have every day of creating exceptional stays and culinary experiences for Sheraton Macao guests, and for them to better understand the inner workings of our hotel operations.
“This program further underscores our commitment to creating memorable experiences for our guests by connecting them to their local travel experiences, friends and families. We hope that these entertaining and insightful activities may inspire kids to someday pursue their own careers in hospitality, or at least have fun performing the various hotel roles as they learn,” added Mr. Dolp.
Macau has seen an increase in families traveling to the destination in recent years. The launch of the Sheraton Macao Junior Hotelier program, along with the comprehensive family friendly facilities and amenities available at the hotel, will not only meet the increasing needs of parents traveling with kids, but also drive more family business to Macau.
The Sheraton Macao Junior Hotelier program will offer children the chance to learn various aspects of the hotel’s operations, taking on food and beverage roles such as Junior Barman or Junior Chef, and positions within the Rooms division such as Junior Agent or Junior Housekeeper. To perform their duties, kids will don special Junior Hotelier uniforms consisting of job-appropriate apparel, such as a chef apron, chef hat, and housekeeping apron.
Each child will complete a set of simple tasks under the tutelage of Sheraton Macao Hotel’s expert staff members on Saturdays and Sundays between 2:45 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. For example, Richard Lao, Chef de Partie, will lead the young Junior Chefs in rolling and shaping dough, preparing icing, and decorating cookies. Sheraton Macao Hotel’s expert barmen will have their young trainees taste ingredients as they teach them how to create shaken and layered mocktails, stirring in a few secrets along the way. Junior Agents will find out how to check in guests and handle luggage, as well as learn the importance of guest relations by setting up a room for a special celebration. Sheraton Macao’s skillful housekeeping staff will teach towel folding techniques to create different animals and stylish displays, plus demonstrate how to make up a Sheraton Sweet Sleeper Bed.
Each Junior Chef, Junior Barman, Junior Agent, or Junior Housekeeper will receive a certificate at the end of his/her selected activity and collect a stamp on his/her Sheraton Macao Hotel Junior Hotelier Passport. Each one of the new Sheraton Macao Junior Hoteliers who completes all four activities will collect all four passport stamps, plus receive an “I am a Sheraton Macao Junior Hotelier” t-shirt; a Sheraton Bear; a DreamWorks bag and animal photo frame. Participants are also welcome to purchase Junior Hotelier uniforms from each activity.
