New hotel building boom in the world’s finance centers

Sofitel FrankfurtMost new top hotels are arising in the world’s leading economic centers. According to data revealed by TOPHOTELPROJECTS, a provider of global b2b hotel data, New York City leads the list of new first class and luxury hotels by a wide margin with 83. New beds are needed in the Big Apple with approximately 11.8 million guests staying in Manhattan every year.

London, with nearly 18.69 million hotel guests are visiting every year, comes second on the list with 51 new building projects in the pipleine. In third place is Paris, with 15.57 million overnight visitors per year and 29 new top hotels are in the pipeline. This follows on the heels of recently opened luxury properties in Pairs: the new Mandarin Oriental and the first European house of Peninsula Hotels.

The German financial center Frankfurt will offer 19 new hotels in the coming months. Recently, Accor won the investor’s run for an impressive prime downtown location at the Old Opera. Accor is spending 250 million euros and it will open in the spring of 2016 as a a five-star Sofitel branded hotel (pictured)with 150 rooms. There are luxury hotel locations in “Mainhattan” too. Next to the European Central Bank is another building complex soon to accommodate two hotels with over 300 rooms.
