Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) hotel school has appointed Gamal Aziz, President and Executive Director of Wynn Macau Limited, to its International Advisory Board (IAB).
The IAB is composed of international hotel, education and hospitality leaders who provide EHL with important industry insights and market trends to support the development of its academic programs.
The EHL Group Management and IAB Presidency rejoice at this nomination and look forward to a continued relationship. “It is a great honor to have someone of Mr. Aziz’s caliber join EHL’s International Advisory Board,” said Dr. Fabien Fresnel, Dean of EHL.
EHL is regularly recognized as the number one school for hospitality management, and Wynn Resorts is the foremost representative of the gaming, entertainment and hospitality market, having earned more Forbes Travel Guide Five Star Awards than any other independent hotel company in the world, among numerous other honors.
“Our two institutions share a common standard for excellence and quality,” added Fresnel. “As EHL looks to expand academic programs and opportunities for students in Asia and the international gaming industry, it is invaluable to have the perspective and experience of Mr. Aziz as an advisor. He has served in executive leadership positions in the world’s two largest gaming markets – Las Vegas and Macau – and his depth of expertise in luxury hospitality adds another layer of talent and insight to our International Advisory Board.”
In his role as President of Wynn Macau Limited, Mr. Aziz oversees operations for Wynn Macau – the world’s only resort to earn seven Forbes Travel Guide Five Star Awards. He is also responsible for the development of Wynn Palace – the company’s US$4 billion destination resort set to open in 2016 in the Cotai area of Macau, SAR. In addition, Mr. Aziz serves as President and Chief Operating Officer of Wynn Resorts Development, LLC, a subsidiary that identifies expansion opportunities domestically and abroad.
“It is an incredible honor to join the prestigious group of leaders on EHL’s International Advisory Board,” said Aziz. “Lausanne’s reputation for excellence and innovation has made them the world’s top hospitality management school. To be associated with such a distinguished institution is a true privilege, and I look forward to working with the Board to continue to grow and diversify hospitality education for students.”
Mr. Aziz has an extensive background in gaming and hospitality, and has held senior management roles at some of the most iconic properties in the United States, including Caesars Palace, MGM Grand and Bellagio in Las Vegas, The Plaza Hotel in New York City and the St. Francis in San Francisco.
Among the recognition Mr. Aziz has received throughout his career, the Nevada Hotel and Lodging Association honored him as “Hotelier of the Year” and the International Food & Beverage Forum inducted him into the Hall of Fame Society with a “Lifetime Achievement Award” in the Hotel category.
