Raffles Singapore is proud to announce the appointment of Andreas Wieckenberg as Executive Assistant Manager, Food & Beverage (F&B). Andreas brings with him over a decade of experience in the food and hospitality industry, and holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.
Andreas will oversee the management and operations of the hotel’s Food & Beverage (F&B) division. While maintaining the high level of service synonymous with the hotel, he aims to make Raffles Singapore’s dining establishments more enticing and accessible not only to hotel guests and visitors but also to local residents, by implementing unique F&B offerings and initiatives that continue to provide a strong value proposition.
“The role as Executive Assistant Manager, Food & Beverage at Raffles Singapore requires a dynamic and focused individual, willing to challenge the norms and go above and beyond the standards set,” says Raffles Singapore General Manager Simon Hirst. “We have found that in Andreas who has a proven and excellent track record in the industry. We look forward to him injecting a new energy and focus into our restaurants and bars.”
Prior to his tenure at Raffles Singapore, Andreas worked around the world at notable hotels in Germany, China and the United States. This has equipped him with a global perspective — an essential quality for working in cosmopolitan Singapore.
He considers his time as the Director of Food & Beverage at Mandarin Oriental, Macau as presenting a steep learning curve. Besides familiarising himself with new cuisines, he constantly had to create innovative ideas in order to ensure that the hotel’s dining offerings stood out in Macau’s highly competitive hospitality market.
Furthermore, his time as part of the pioneer team tasked with setting up the F&B programme at the Mandarin Oriental in Las Vegas is a testament to his meticulous planning and management skills. He also has a strong understanding of managing both small and large scale operations having worked at Brenner’s Park-Hotel & SPA, a luxury boutique hotel, in Baden-Baden (Germany) as well as at The Westin Grand in Munich, an upscale business hotel.
“I believe running a successful F&B programme relies largely on teamwork,” says Andreas. “It requires, on my part, the ability to identify each team members’ key strengths, investing in them by growing their skills, then placing them in roles that best utilise these talents. I hope to be able to do this with my new team at Raffles Singapore and am excited to work closely with them to reaffirm the hotel’s position as a Singapore icon.”
