Carlson Rezidor has announced its first residence in Istanbul: the Radisson Blu Residence Istanbul Batisehir, featuring 171 unitsm is scheduled to open in Q2 2016. The signing further strengthens the position of Radisson Blu as the largest upper upscale brand in Istanbul – now comprising 9 hotels and almost 1,800 rooms in operation or under development.
“We see a growing demand for serviced apartments – especially from business and leisure customers from the Middle East. The Radisson Blu Residence will further diversify our offer in Istanbul, one of Europe’s busiest and most attractive markets”, said Wolfgang M. Neumann, President & CEO of Rezidor.
“Turkey is a key focus country for our group. We now operate and develop 20 hotels with more than 3,600 rooms across the country, and want to further drive growth and scale together with experienced national and international partners”, added Elie Younes, Executive Vice President & Chief Development Officer of Rezidor.
The Radisson Blu Residence Istanbul Batisehir will be located on the western side of Istanbul as part of the Batisehir project, one of the largest and most marketed real estate developments in town. On a surface of 818,000sqm, Batisehir will offer a mix of residential buildings, offices, retail space and an educational centre. Upon completion, the complex will host 15,000 people. Conveniently located between the Atatürk International Airport and the city centre and highly visible, the Radisson Blu Residence will comprise 171 studios and apartments (23-125sqm) with Radisson Blu signature elements such as free high speed internet access. Further services will include an all-day-dining restaurant, a bar, a business centre with 4 meeting rooms, a gym, and parking spaces.
Istanbul is one of Europe’s Top 20 cities for real estate development. As strategic hub between Europe and Asia, it has strong growth prospects that are driven by a young, dynamic population. The Turkish government has increased its public spending over the past years to introduce several mega-construction projects in Istanbul – amongst them a third international airport, the extension of road and metro system, and a third Bosphorus bridge.
