The newest trend in hotel beverage departments is a focus on beer-based cocktails. Many bar professionals are developing unique cocktails with beer that incorporate a refreshing taste bursting with a variety of flavors with a some type of fun twist.

With this trend growing at a rapid pace, restaurants all around the world are creating specialty brew concoctions for menus in search of something new. Here are a few examples:

Mai-Corona: Grand Rapids, Michigan, recently mentioned at one of the 52 Places to Go in 2016 by the New York Times, is also known as Beer City USA. Cygnus27 at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel has taken a different approach by serving beer cocktails, some of which include beer from the 15 breweries in the area. Highlights include the Mai-Corona, made with Zaya aged 12-year rum, almond syrup, lime, mint and Corona Extra.

Waldorf Buzz: Frank Caiafa, the Waldorf Astoria’s master mixologist, creates beer cocktails using ingredients from the hotel’s 20th floor rooftop garden and beehives combined with the hotel’s house-made Waldorf Buzz and Greatest of Them Ale seasonal beers created in partnership with Empire Brewing in the Finger Lakes.

Melon-Beer and Ice berg: Sandos Caracol Eco Resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico features two fan-favorites beer cocktails at each of the all-inclusive resort bars. The Melon-Beer is a bubbly creation that features Mexican Chamoy sauce, fresh cantaloupe and frosty beer. The Ice Berg takes a tall cold beer and tops it off with a chunky serving of a frozen margarita creating a glacial effect in a frosted mug.

Skip and Go Naked: Witnessing the growing popularity of beer cocktails, Hilton Orlando has crafted a variety of brewtail offerings including the Skip and Go Naked, a libation that combines vodka, lemon juice, simple syrup and American Amber for a light and fizzy beverage.
