Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants is pleased to announce the appointment of Gregory Leinweber as general manager of Kimpton Hotel Monaco Washington DC. A seasoned Kimpton veteran, Leinweber brings over 30 years of hospitality industry experience to Hotel Monaco’s senior management team, transitioning from his most recent role as area director of sales and marketing for four of Kimpton’s downtown Washington hotels.

In his new role at Hotel Monaco, Leinweber will oversee all hotel activities including personnel, day-to-day operations, guest relations and business development. No stranger to the hotel itself, Leinweber most recently worked in sales with the Hotel Monaco as well as Kimpton George Hotel, Kimpton Donovan Hotel and the newly-opened Kimpton Mason & Rook Hotel before shifting into a key operational role. His extensive multi-property experience enables him to seamlessly interact with sales and hotel staff, restaurant teams, guests, meeting and event planners, vendors and owners. During his tenure with Kimpton, he was also awarded the company’s highest honor for a member of the sales team, the Bill Kimpton Leadership Award, for his passion and dedication.

Leinweber, a hotelier through and through, got his start at the Westin Hotel Renaissance Center Detroit, where he quickly rose through the ranks both on the operations and sales teams. He then gained varied experience in the golf and ski resort industry as director of corporate sales at Boyne Resorts and the Inn at Bay Harbor and with luxury boutique hotels as the director of sales and marketing for the Townsend Hotel and the Mansion on Forsyth Park in Savannah, Ga. Before bringing his expertise to Kimpton’s Washington team in 2008, Leinweber served as the pre-opening director of sales and marketing at MGM Grand Detroit.

A Detroit native, Leinweber currently calls the District of Columbia home. An avid sailor, he enjoys the open water and travels back to Michigan often to spend time with family and friends around the Great Lakes. Leinweber currently sits on the board of directors for the DowntownDC Business Improvement District (BID), is a member of the Penn Quarter Neighborhood Association and serves as a mentor to many within the hospitality industry.
