Shawn Jervis is the new general manager at Barnsley Resort, a luxury boutique resort located just north of Atlanta. Jervis will be responsible for all aspects of managing the resort on a day to day basis as well as bringing his experience to lead the resort through their recently announced expansion.
“From the opportunity to reposition a great resort with the addition of the Inn at Barnsley Resort and Georgian Hall to the diverse outdoor activities to our colleagues, I see everything I’m passionate about in one location,” said General Manager Shawn Jervis.“My wife and I love hiking and spending time outdoors, so Barnsley Resort’s outdoor focus and natural landscape inspire me.”
Barnsley Resort is embarking on a major expansion, the first since the resort opened in 1999. The Inn at Barnsley Resort will add 55 more guest rooms and suites. The addition of Georgian Hall, a new social space for meetings and events, will include more than 7,500 square feet of indoor ballroom and breakout rooms. Three outdoor venues adjacent to Georgian Hall encompass more than 8,300 square feet. The addition of the Inn at Barnsley Resort and Georgian Hall will allow the resort to host more corporate groups, association meetings and special events such as weddings. Both projects are anticipated to open in fall of 2017.
“Growing to 150 total rooms and suites combined with the addition of new meeting and event space will change how the resort operates in the future. I want to use my experience to create the path forward to make this transition go smoothly for our existing colleagues as well as implement new training and recruiting programs to attract the best talent for the 100 new positions we anticipate adding,” said Mr. Jervis.“I can paint the picture and define the vision, but I want our colleagues to be motivated and passionate about running with it.”
Prior to his new position at Barnsley Resort, Mr. Jervis was the general manager at the Miramonte Resort & Spa in Indian Wells, California, and The Embassy Row Hotel in Washington, DC where he was responsible for all aspects of the hotel and oversaw the full transition of the new ownership/management company as well as repositioning the hotel renovation, building brand identity, culture and built a new leadership team. As general manager at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, Mr. Jervis orchestrated service excellence by creating a culture that promotes unity and teamwork in all areas.
