Nikki Takamatsu has been appointed executive chef for The LookOut Food & Drink at The LineUp at Wai Kai, a new year-round waterfront venue for active adventurers anchored by the Wai Kai Wave and the adjacent 52-acre recreational Wai Kai Lagoon. In his new position, Takamatsu will lead the restaurant’s kitchen staff, collaborate with management to set pricing, introduce new culinary techniques and menus and keep up with industry trends.
Takamatsu previously served as sous chef at The LookOut. Prior, he worked at Roy’s in Ko Olina and Restaurant 604 in various positions, moving up the ranks from prep cook to sous chef. He currently resides in Ewa Beach.
Takamatsu’s first initiative is spearheading the launch of The LookOut’s revamped menus, which include new happy hour offerings with shareable appetizers, as well as entrees that highlight local ingredients. The restaurant also features a wide selection of tasty specialty cocktails, beer, and wine. Extended dining hours are Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m.–10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. – midnight with a last call for food orders at 10 p.m.
The LookOut Food & Drink, a Surfrider Foundation Ocean Friendly Restaurant, provides front-row views of the surf action from its expansive lanai and wave deck, as well as unobstructed views of the adjacent Wai Kai Lagoon and the sparkling Pacific Ocean. The LookOut features nightly live entertainment and its menu is inspired by famous surf spots around the world with a focus on locally sourced products.
