Young Hoteliers Summit is the largest student-run hospitality summit in the world, taking place every year at Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL), Switzerland. The summit invites more than 30 leading hospitality institutions from around the world every year and receives continuous support from prominent companies and industry professionals.
Due to the pandemic, YHS 2020 was a virtual event. Despite having to replan the summit strategy with such short notice, the event was a huge success carrying the same level of professionalism as past years and had an even wider reach.
This year too, Virtual YHS 2021 takes place from 22nd to 25th March.
The summit is centered around a comprehensive theme that best reflects the industry’s environment. This year, considering the pandemic we are facing, YHS will address the shifts emerging in all aspects of our industry. Thus, we have ‘A Macroscopic View’, looking at things through a broader lens and expanding the definition of hospitality adapting to the new reality – with a Rethink, Re-Sculpt, Rejuvenate mindset!
YHS’ notable partners include IHG Hotels & Resorts as the Challenge Provider, engaging the delegates with a though-provoking case to study. Other partners include Dorchester Collection, STR, Bye Bye Plastic Bags, Youthtopia, Hyatt and more!
This year’s panels will revolve around five key themes: ‘Air, Land, and Sea’, ‘The Nextgen Start-up Manual’, ‘Our House Is on Fire’, ‘How Your Privacy Became a Commodity?’, ‘Breaking the Glass Ceiling – Equality vs Equity’ and ‘The Non-Human Touch’. During the panels, our speakers will touch on highly relevant and fascinating topics like the survival of airlines and cruise ships, discrimination of minorities in the workplace, the protection of our personal data, and much more.
Each year, YHS invites a stellar group of speakers that empower young hoteliers with their invigorating dialogue. This year the summit features a diverse line up from returning speakers like Swiss Airlines VP, Head of Western Switzerland, Lorenzo Stoll, Chief People and Culture Officer, Dorchester Collection, Eugenio Pirri, and Special Advisor to the Secretary General of United Nations, Anita Mendiratta to fresh, new additions like the very young but driven Indonesian Activist, Melati Wijsen, CEO of Six Senses Hotels, Resorts and Spas, Niel Jacobs, Co-Founder of Regenerative Travel, Amanda Ho.
The Core Members of YHS’ organizing team invite hospitality enthusiasts to tune into the virtual summit, “The COVID-19 pandemic really put a heavy weight on our team. But we’re proud that we overcame these challenges and brought together an impressive lineup of speakers! We truly believe this will be a fantastic summit. You don’t want to miss it!”.
