The boutique New Zealand property – The Convent Hotel in Auckland changed its pricing strategy to be based on more real-time market conditions and customer demand.
About The Convent
The Convent Hotel in Auckland’s central suburb of Grey Lynn was once a community for nuns. Today this historic property is a uniquely crafted boutique hotel featuring 22 cozy, character-filled rooms that have everything you need… and nothing you don’t.
Staying true to the original architecture, The Convent’s rooms offer all the comforts of home layered with playful design touches and all the modern conveniences. The Spanish mission-style building houses ornate ceilings, stucco arches, and vast steel windows where you will find the eclectic rooms nestled within. A one-of-a-kind stay every time, perfect for a staycation or any leisure visitor to Auckland. Design and aesthetics aside, the property is ideally located for anyone looking to access Auckland’s many central attractions.
Driven by a desire to be more aligned with current market conditions
A progressive hotel when it comes to marketing and technology, the team at The Convent wanted to ensure it was adopting the best practices when it came to guest acquisition and revenue management. Listening to the guests was key to informing room pricing that yielded the best returns for the business, i.e. moving into the era of dynamic pricing.
Dynamic pricing would give The Convent the tools to be more responsive to local events and temporary fluctuations in demand, ensuring they are never priced too high or too low.
STAAH’s Max Channel Manager is built on the principles of dynamic pricing. Combined with its other smart features such as Reservation Cut Out Time, it was the perfect fit for The Convent’s needs.
The STAAH Max Channel Manager comes with a number of features that support properties’ aspirations to be more responsive to market conditions when it comes to pricing. These include promo codes, easily accessible and rich insights, and more.
Following a demo, The Convent signed up to STAAH in early 2023. The integration with their existing technology stack was seamless and training the staff was quick, thanks to STAAH’s user-friendliness.
A jump in ADR
Within a few months of moving to STAAH, The Convent noticed a growth in its Average Daily Revenue (ADR). Being competitively priced, both occupancy and earn from it was at optimal levels leading to this result.
Using STAAH’s live dashboard and comprehensive insights has not just benefitted the business, but also helped improve the efficiency of staff managing distribution.
