Beekeeper to Talk ‘Talent’ and How Technology Can Attract, Retain Employees at HITEC

Hoteliers looking for proven ways to attract and retain top talent should plan to attend a breakout session at HITEC Minneapolis this month led byBeekeeper.

Hospitality: The People Business” will take a hard look at employee engagement and how operations-focused communication strategies will help hotels thrive and keep employee satisfaction high despite current low unemployment rates and related retention hurdles. This “Tech Talk” will be held on Wednesday, June 19th at 2:00 p.m. in the HFTP Booth on the HITEC tradeshow floor (located at the end of aisles 2500 and 2600).

The secret to guest satisfaction starts with a hotel’s employees,” said Connie Rheams, Beekeeper VP of Hospitality. “In just 15 minutes, hoteliers will learn to use operational communication technology to connect their systems and communication channels to employees for improved engagement.

Because workers are immersed in a 24/7 work environment, it can be difficult to connect with them, and cross-team collaboration is near impossible. Daytime employees and managers rarely meet or communicate with those working the night shift or working part-time on the weekends. Factor in that on average, 83% of a hotel’s hourly employee do not have a work email address and don’t sit behind a desk, and the challenge to engage with those people responsible for touching and serving guests heightens. Linking staff across locations and departments in real time via mobile or desktop devices makes them feel part of the hotel family, thereby making it difficult to take a job elsewhere due to relationships forged.

“I hope HITEC attendees will join me for a robust conversation centered on the secret to guest satisfaction,” she said. “After all, 43% of Millennials say they plan to leave their jobs in the next year, and only 28 percent plan to stay beyond five years, according to the 2018 Deloitte Millennial Survey. Gen Z is expressing even less loyalty, with 61 percent saying they would leave within two years if given the choice. So, there’s no time to waste. Hoteliers need to do something NOW to keep their workforces intact. Attending this breakout session is a good place to start.”
