Bidroom, the world’s fastest-growing OTC (Online Travel Community), has announced the expansion of the group’s board of directors. Experienced hoteliers and investors Bas Tolmeijer, Francesco Monaco and John Stoffers are joining the board.
Bidroom was launched in 2014 when room became available for new players in the market due to the high commissions of OTAs. Founders of Bidroom, Michael Ros and Casper Knieriem: ‘Because the revolutionary concept is so popular among hoteliers, the number of members of our community has soared. Partly through intensive cooperation with credit card company Visa, our company has now become a prominent player on the market and we are ready for the next step. By bringing in these professionals, we can further shape our mission to shake up the OTA market and make it fairer.’
Tolmeijer, Monaco and Stoffers have earned their spurs in the international hotel sector, having been co-founders of Apollo Hotels, which was successfully sold to the listed Fattal Hotels this summer. In the new board, Bas Tolmeijer will fulfil the role of Chief Executive Officer of Bidroom. ‘From our years of experience in the hotel business, we know how much pressure the OTAs place on the shoulders of hoteliers in the form of obligations, demands and rising commissions. We look forward to working with the team to promote the global growth of the Bidroom community, with which we can make a real difference for travellers and hotels.’
The five-member board comprises Michael Ros, as Chief Operating Officer (COO) responsible for the entire operations, Casper Knieriem (Chief Development Officer) with international development as his portfolio, John Stoffers as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Francesco Monaco, as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) responsible for the commercial strategy, and Bas Tolmeijer as CEO.
