Marriott International has appointed long-time employee Jason Nuell as Area Vice President for Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific (ANZP), succeeding Sean Hunt, who retired last month.
Nuell has been with Marriott International for over 20 years, most recently serving as Vice President of Customer Experience and F&B Design Services for APEC. He has relocated from Marriott’s Asia Pacific excluding China (APEC) headquarters in Singapore to Sydney to assume his new role.
Nuell will oversee the financial performance of Marriott’s 46 operating hotels and an additional 20 pipeline properties in the region. Since joining Marriott in 2003 as Director of Food and Beverage at the Surfer’s Paradise Marriott Resort (now JW Marriott Resort and Spa Gold Coast), he has held various senior leadership positions across Southeast Asia, China, India, the United States, and Europe.
In 2011, Nuell was honored with Marriott International’s Global General Manager of the Year Award while serving as the General Manager of the Renaissance Phuket Resort and Spa.
A brand expert with extensive experience in managing complex, organization-wide projects, Nuell’s most recent role involved guiding the formation of Marriott’s APEC Brand Team, where he led the brand strategy, management, activation, and design for 30 brands across the region.
Additionally, Nuell was Marriott’s first Brand Advocate in Europe, spearheading local brand strategy and initiatives for both managed and franchised properties.
