San Ysidro Ranch, announced today that Andrew Caine has been appointed as director of food and beverage. As the longest standing luxury resort in the community, San Ysidro Ranch has served as an icon of the region for over a century and its award-winning restaurants offer gracious hospitality, mouthwatering cuisine, and a rustic romantic setting. In his new role, Caine will execute food and beverage operations to the highest standards; hire, train and manage culinary staff; and ensure exceptional customer service, guest satisfaction and unforgettable dining experiences.

A motivated and accomplished professional in the industry, Caine most recently served as general manager of Michelin-starred Caruso’s restaurant at Rosewood Miramar Beach in Santa Barbara, where he helped attain numerous accolades for the restaurant. Prior, Caine served as an assistant food and beverage manager at Auberge Du Soleil in Napa Valley, where he oversaw and managed its Michelin star restaurant among other fine dining outlets. Caine holds master’s certifications in hospitality management and administration from Cornell University as well as a WSET Level 2 certification.

Inspired by the clandestine bars of the Prohibition era, San Ysidro Ranch is set to open its newest venue, the Speakeasy at Plow & Angel, later this month. Guests will step through a discreet entrance to a refined interior space that celebrates the spirit of hidden indulgence. Every night, the venue comes alive with sultry notes of live music, making it the perfect place for those seeking an escape from the ordinary. The enchanting space is adorned with sumptuous red banquettes, exotic tiger-striped chairs, vintage furniture, including an iconic Chesterfield couch, one-of-a-kind rugs, and copper tabletops that serve as functional art. The expansive drink menu ranges from seasonal cocktails, Seedlip mocktails, classic combinations and libations named after famous speakeasies of the past. Rare tasting flights are also available, including a bourbon tasting flight with Old Rip Van Winkle 10 Year, Van Winkle Special Reserve 12 Year, and Colonel E.H. Taylor, as well as a large selection of rare liquors such as the Macallan 1824 Series, El Jolgorio single variety mezcals, Gran Patron selections, Remy Martin cognac selections and more.
