Shangri-La’s rebranding of Trader Hotels to Hotel Jen: a closer look

With the first Hotel Jen officially opening today at Orchard Gateway in Singapore, former Shangri-La exec and now Hotel Jen COO Lothar Nessmann discusses how he expects the Trader’s Hotel rebranding to “open doors wider to not only Millennials but all travellers young at heart”.

Shangri-La’s mid-range brand expects to differentiate itself with soft-touch points and a locale-centric philosophy. The Trader’s transition will see 10 Hotel Jens open in Asia by  March 2015. Cities next in line for Hotel Jen properties after Singapore include Hong Kong, Brisbane, Panang, Manilla, Beijing and the Maldives.

Nessmann discusses the rebranding of Trader Hotels into Hotel Jen to appeal to a new generation of travelers and the challenges he faces with Bloomberg’s Rishaad Salamat on “On The Move.” (Source: Bloomberg)
