Alvin Mansour’s Oram Hotels and Azul Hospitality Group have announce the early 2019 debut of The Guild, a 162-room Marriott Tribute Portfolio property in San Diego, California. The Guild, housed in the historic Army- Navy landmark building, will be reimagined through San Diego native Mansour’s incredible attention to detail, devotion to design, and hands-on management and will deliver an excursion into evocative, boutique design that revives a 95 year old hospitality space that has served as a place of respite and leisure for millions of service men and women the world over. The Guild will be a creative, design-forward destination that will pay homage to the property’s iconic history and its deep San Diego roots while simultaneously bringing forth a fresh, inspired take on contemporary hospitality unlike anything else in the city.
The exterior Italian Renaissance-style detailing, facade and grand staircase of The Guild will be left largely untouched and guests will be welcomed into a contemporary, boutique-style lobby – home to a striking full-service bar – layered with detail, texture and motion. Guest rooms will appeal to an array of travelers with everything from cozy, European-inspired accommodations to a two-bedroom penthouse suite with private rooftop deck. A signature restaurant will highlight the city’s indoor/outdoor lifestyle with lush, greenery-filled surroundings and a light, Mediterranean-inspired menu. The YMCA’s former basketball court with elevated running track will be transformed into a grand ballroom like no other, featuring original brick wall inlays and hardwood floors. The underground pool on the basement level will be reimagined into a one-of-a-kind event space with original design elements. Various private spaces will be tucked away for special meetings, celebrations and signature programming.
The Guild will be rooted in a comfortable, yet beautiful design aesthetic, out-of-the-box thinking and an impeccable eye for detail. While the visual look and feel of the property will be key, how guests engage with it is equally important and will be exhibited through smart features, technology- driven amenities and highly personalized service.
