Chef Moreno Miotto welcomes new Executive Chef at The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi

The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi welcomes Chef Moreno Gianfranco Miotto to the team as the resort’s new Executive Chef, leading the culinary team and the four dining outlets: Horizon, The Beach Grill, Langkawi Kitchen and Hai Yan.

Born in Canada, Chef Moreno started his career in independent restaurants, honing his skills in Italian cuisine before joining the hotel industry in 2007, as executive chef at the Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco in Tuscany, Italy, before moving back to Canada where he continued to build his career as an executive chef.

From there he joined The Ritz-Carlton, Doha as Chef de Cuisine for two years, where he oversaw all the dining outlets and led the team in delivering the brand’s promise of personalized service and genuine care, before returning to Canada for two years to join the Sequoia Company of Restaurants as Corporate Executive Chef, where he led the chefs de cuisine and was responsible for the quality, consistency and production of multi-site outlets in Vancouver, where he also led the rebranding and redevelopment of the menu for a Japanese restaurant.

Chef Moreno returned to the Marriott Group in 2019, joining W Hotel Doha first as Chef de Cuisine before being elevated to Executive Sous Chef. During his time at the hotel the Italian restaurant La Spiga by Papermoon was awarded ‘Best Italian Restaurant’ in both the 2019 Time Out Restaurant Awards Doha and the 2019 Fact Dining Awards Doha.

After his successful time with W Hotel Doha he moved to the Rosa Grand Milano, then Sheraton Ammam and finally his last role at The Ritz-Carlton, Budapest as Executive Chef.

Outside of work Chef Moreno loves watching movies and football, while his passion for culinary innovation and exploration leads him to try the local cuisine in each country, seeking out authentic local restaurants to learn about the country’s culture and flavors.

The Ladies & Gentlemen of The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi, are excited to have welcome Chef Moreno to the team and to continue reinventing legends with him.
