The Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner is proud to announce the recent appointment of Olivier Lau to the role of General Manager. With nearly two decades of hospitality experience, Olivier brings a plethora of knowledge to his new title, where he will continue to establish the hotel as a luxury destination in picturesque Northern Virginia. In this role, he will also have oversight for The Ritz-Carlton, Georgetown, Washington D.C., with their shared Guidance Team members supporting both locations.
In his most recent role as General Manager of JW Marriott New Orleans, Olivier exceeded all key metrics, where he produced remarkable results in employee, quest, and owner satisfaction – all while improving topline revenue and GOP margin during the height of the pandemic. Prior to this role, Olivier served as the Director of Operations at the JW Marriott Minneapolis Mall of America, earning Hotel of the Year under the Classic Luxury category in 2017 and 2019 during his tenure.
Olivier’s industry experience spans 18 years across multiple brands and locations. He began his career in the purchasing department of the Brussels Marriott Hotel. As his career progressed, he held a variety of food and beverage roles in Brussels, Belgium, and St. Thomas, USVI, before returning stateside to open the JW Marriott Chicago as Director of Restaurants. Olivier’s journey continued as Director of Food and Beverage at The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco, followed by a promotion to Los Angeles as Director of Food and Beverage for the LA Live complex of hotels: The Ritz-Carlton, The Ritz-Carlton Residences and JW Marriott.
Born and raised in Paris, Olivier earned a Bachelor of Tourism Management from Haute Ecole Lucia de Brouckere (Brussels, Belgium), followed by certifications in Revenue Management, Real Estate Investment, and Asset Management from Cornell University.
