Rupert Hallam has been appointed General Manager of Hilton Adelaide, joining the team with more than 25 years in hospitality and tourism and a wealth of experience across all facets of hotel management.

Rupert Hallam has been with Hilton for more than 19 years and whilst he is British by birth, 10 years of living across Australia prompted him and his family to call Australia “home.”

Hallam says that he was lucky enough to be introduced to Adelaide 12 years ago when on secondment with Hilton for three months and that it was during this experience that he fell in love with South Australia.

“I strongly believe Adelaide is one of the friendliest cities in Australia. Whilst I may have only been in the role a few weeks, I have already received such a warm welcome by our team and the wider tourism and business community in Adelaide,” said Hallam.

“We are fortunate that Hilton Adelaide is the largest hotel in South Australia, with 374 guest rooms, as well as the largest hotel ballroom, meaning we can cater to large groups as well as individual travelers.”

With 24-hour room service, up to 500 conference delegates can eat, meet, sleep and play all in the one location with leisure facilities that include a new state-of-the-art fitness center, Coal Cellar + Grill restaurant and two bars (lobby lounge and The Collins Bar), as well as a pool and tennis court.

“I am looking forward to building on the deliverables and programs in place using my global commercial experience with the Hilton brand. We want Hilton Adelaide to continue to be the hotel destination of choice for visitors in an extremely competitive environment.”

Hallam is a passionate hospitality and tourism industry executive with more than 25 years’ worth of international experience working for Hilton in the Asia Pacific region. Prior to this role, Rupert was Vice President of Sales for Hilton Asia Pacific, based in Singapore.

“After living overseas for five years, it is now an ideal time for my family and I to return to Australia and being successfully appointed in this new role has given us the opportunity for which we are very excited and extremely grateful. We missed the open spaces and blue skies, all of which are here in abundance in South Australia.”

Rupert Hallam has relocated to Adelaide, South Australia from Singapore with his wife and two daughters.
