W San Francisco, an electric urban oasis located in the heart of San Francisco’s SoMa district, is excited to announce the appointment of Mgeni Mpolo as the new director of sales and marketing at the hotel.
In his new role, Mpolo will oversee and direct all sales, marketing and public relations initiatives at W San Francisco. He is an experienced sales director with almost two decades of demonstrated professional history in the hospitality industry. Mpolo will bring new perspectives and refreshed sales and marketing strategies to W San Francisco’s bold and playful brand.

Mpolo has a strong background rooted in sales, catering, market research and management. Specifically, Mpolo specialises in impacting sales and profitability and delivering critical sales, revenue and marketing decisions, as well as leading the sales organisation to generate dynamic revenue growth, strong account management and market saturation.
Mpolo joins W San Francisco from The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco as the previous director of sales, where he led the sales team to achieve assigned top line revenue, as well as met market share goals and exceeded budget targets. In 2016, Mpolo was a sales leader for the Groups and Catering business at Marriott International Western Mountain Pacific region (10 Northern California full-service hotels). Prior to that, Mpolo launched a successful new business development team and sales strategy campaign in 2009 for 65 hotels in the Western Mountain Pacific region. Mpolo received his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a concentration in Organizational Leadership from Fresno Pacific University.
