Silverado Resort receives community service award at CHLA Industry Event

the prestigious 2023 Community Service Award at the California Hotel & Lodging Association’s (CHLA) annual Stars of the Industry Awards event held recently at the Claremont Club & Spa in Berkeley, Calif.

Hundreds of exemplary employees and properties were nominated by California hospitality leaders for the 2023 awards with CHLA judges selecting winners based on their accomplishments and unique contributions to their properties, guests, and communities.

According to Tami Douglas, director of human resources for Silverado Resort, CHLA Community service awards are given for programs that demonstrate to area residents that the individual property is responsive to the local community.

“This award marks a milestone achievement for our resort,” Douglas said. “We are thrilled to be recognized for our ongoing support of our Napa Valley neighbors. It is especially gratifying to be acknowledged by our peers in the hospitality industry for demonstrating involvement in and responsiveness to the diverse needs of our local community.”

Douglas said Silverado was specifically recognized for multiple community outreach programs, among them:

  • The Third Annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s Event
  • The Resorting to Opportunity High School Summer Mentor Program
  • The Annual Toys for Tots Toy Drive in partnership with the U.S. Marines
  • A Backpack Drive in partnership with Community Resources for Children
  • Regular volunteering at Napa County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center
  • Support for Human Trafficking Awareness Day, in partnership with Napa County

CHLA leaders offered support to the four outstanding properties and 11 industry leaders honored at the event. “Congratulations to our 2023 winners and nominees who embody the spirit of hospitality and help make California a global industry leader,” said Lynn S. Mohrfeld, president and CEO of CHLA. “Your dedication serves as a reminder that our industry thrives when all of us are engaged and committed to excellence on a local level.”
