Your eHotelier Certificate Just Got More Valuable
A few weeks ago, I sat down to read a report from the Institute of Hospitality. Fifty pages, dense with detail, covering every one of our certifications and courses. I’ve read a lot of review documents in my time in this industry, and I still felt a small flicker of nerves opening that email. Some things never change, no matter how many years you’ve done this job.
Here’s the good news. The Professional Review Panel has completed its assessment, and our endorsement has been renewed. All 12 certifications. All 111 courses. Recognised through to April 2028.
If you’ve earned an eHotelier certificate, or you’re thinking about starting one, this matters more than you might realise.
What endorsement actually means
There are a lot of training providers out there. Anyone can put together a course, add a nice logo, and call it professional development. What separates a credential that means something from one that doesn’t is independent scrutiny. That’s what the Institute of Hospitality provides.
Their panel doesn’t take our word for it. They pull apart the curriculum, check it against current industry standards, and look at how the learning translates into real workplace skill. It’s a slow process, and it should be. When you put a certificate on your CV or your LinkedIn profile, you want it to carry weight with the person reading it. This renewal is that weight, confirmed again, for another two years.
I’ve been in hospitality long enough to remember hiring managers who barely glanced at training certificates. That’s changed. Guests expect more. Owners expect more. And frankly, the people doing this work deserve training that actually holds up against scrutiny, not just a certificate that looks nice on a wall.
Why we keep doing this
I won’t pretend the review process is fun. It asks hard questions about our content, our assessment methods, and how we keep pace with a fast-moving industry. But every time we go through it, our courses come out sharper. This cycle was no different.
That’s the part people don’t always see. Endorsement isn’t a plaque you hang up and forget about. It’s a relationship that keeps you honest, cycle after cycle.
A word about your career, not just our courses
Here’s something I’d tell anyone early in their hospitality career, whether you learned with us or somewhere else: keep building your professional credentials, and keep them connected to a real professional body. Not because it looks good. Because it opens doors when you least expect it, whether that’s a promotion, a move to a new property, or a completely different segment of the industry.
On that note, the Institute of Hospitality has put together something worth your attention. If you’ve completed one of our endorsed programmes, you can join IoH as a professional member for £145 for your first year, down from the usual £205, with the joining fee waived entirely. It’s a genuine saving, and it plugs you into a network, events, and CPD resources well beyond anything a single course can offer.
Where this leaves us
Two more years of endorsement means two more years of accountability, and I mean that as a compliment to the process, not a complaint. It keeps eHotelier building courses that stand up to outside review, not just internal opinion.
To everyone who has completed a certification with us, thank you for trusting your professional development to our courses. To everyone considering one, know that what you’ll earn has been checked by people whose only job is to make sure it’s worth your time.
We’ll keep doing the work to earn that endorsement again in 2028. That’s the deal we’ve made, and it’s one I’m glad to keep.
