Stefan Soennichsen appointed Managing Director and Regional VP Operations at The Langham London

Langham Hospitality Group has seen a flurry of senior appointments recently. Bob van den Oord’s promotion to CEO, effectiveStefan Soennichsen September 1st, and Lo Young’s new role as Senior Vice President of Operations in China, overseeing the hotel collection in China, are notable shifts. Now, the Hong Kong-based hotel giant has announced the appointment of Stefan Soennichsen as the General Manager for Langham, London.

Stefan’s leadership of this esteemed London establishment is anticipated given his extensive familiarity with the city. Between 2005 and 2015, Stefan acquainted himself deeply with London’s hotel industry. He initially managed the Savoy, followed by the helm at One Aldwych, and subsequently at St Martins Lane. His responsibilities expanded further with Morgans Hotel Group, overseeing multiple properties.

However, Stefan’s impressive credentials aren’t limited to London. Prior to his tenure there, he honed his managerial acumen in Singapore with Elite Concepts, and in Dubai at both the InterContinental and the Fairmont. Reflecting on his journey, Stefan shared with Destination of the World News in 2019, “This industry has taught me to be my own champion.” The Middle East’s allure was so compelling that after a European stint, he returned.

By 2015, Stefan was back in Dubai, serving as the Vice-President of Damac Hotels & Resort. A year later, he transitioned to Abu Dhabi, taking on a role with Edition, Marriott International’s innovative brand envisioned by Ian Schrager. After an impactful tenure of nearly five years, he ascended to oversee multiple properties for the group.

It’s this impeccable career trajectory that made Stefan the ideal choice for Langham Hospitality Group’s London jewel. More than just a seasoned manager, Stefan believes in fostering excellence through compassion. He shared his management philosophy in 2019, stating, “By treating your staff well, they, in turn, will serve your guests exceptionally.
