Shaun Robinson appointed General Manager at Hilton San Diego Bayfront

Hilton San Diego Bayfront announced the appointment of Shaun Robinson to general manager of the 1,190-room bayfront hotel featuring more than 165,000 square feet of flexible meeting space and located just steps away from the San Diego Convention Center. In his new role, he will ensure that Hilton San Diego Bayfront maintains its excellent reputation in providing purposeful and passionate customer service while continuing to enhance the guest experience for leisure, business and group travelers. Robinson joins Hilton San Diego Bayfront from Hilton Anaheim where he oversaw more than 1,000 team members as general manager, a position he held since 2011.

Marriott, Hilton, and IHG continue to dominate the U.S. Hotel Construction Pipeline

In the recently released United States Construction Pipeline Trend Report from Lodging Econometrics (LE), analysts detailed the leading franchise companies and their brands in the construction pipeline at the close of the first quarter. Marriott International (Marriott) tops the charts with the greatest number of projects in the U.S. hotel construction pipeline, at Q1 2023, with 1,499 projects/181,377 rooms, followed closely by Hilton Worldwide (Hilton), with a record-high count of 1,436 projects/161,359 rooms, and then InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) with 809 projects/80,679 rooms. Combined, these three franchise companies comprise 68% of the projects in the total U.S. pipeline.

Marriott, Hilton, and IHG close Q4 2022 with largest projects counts

As reported in the fourth quarter United States Construction Pipeline Trend Report from Lodging Econometrics (LE) for 2022, the franchise companies with the largest construction pipelines at the end of Q4 are led by Marriott International (Marriott) with 1,490 projects/180,113 rooms. Following Marriott is Hilton Worldwide (Hilton) with 1,378 projects/154,790 rooms and InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) with 789 projects/78,951 rooms. Combined, these three companies account for 67% of the projects and 64% of the rooms in the total pipeline.
