Sheraton Hotels & Resorts, part of Marriott International’s global portfolio of over 30 extraordinary hotel brands, announced that Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey’s Hotel & Bungalows officially re-opened following a multi-million-dollar (USD8.5M) renovation.
Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey’s Hotel & Bungalows, located in the capital, Apia, brings to life the brand’s new vision as part of a worldwide transformation, focusing on design and signature experiences that foster community, gathering, and productivity in all areas of the hotel.
Architects and interior designers collaborated to retain the classic Samoan cultural heritage amidst the modern enhancements, with the final design seamlessly blending traditional island motifs with contemporary elegance. The design aims to highlight the natural beauty of the surrounding landscapes and the resort’s waterfront harbour location, utilising natural earth tones with rich wooden textures and warm beige throughout. Furnishings were sourced using eco-friendly materials such as sustainable wood and natural fibres. The use of Samoan tapa cloth patterns can be seen in various design elements, adding a stylish authentic touch.
Encompassing 175 spacious accommodation options, the hotel features 149 guest rooms, 23 private bungalows, and 3 suites each with private balconies or patios offering stunning harbour and pool views. On arrival, guests are greeted by the hotel’s refreshed historic facade and re-vamped arrival experience. The fully remodelled lobby reflects a new, open concept in keeping with Samoa’s traditional bungalows, called fales, and a sleek refreshed design.
Guests can enjoy international cuisine at the newly reopened poolside restaurant, Feast, that offers buffet breakfast daily as well as themed buffet dinners at least two to three times a week with optional a’ la carte; freshly brewed coffee and tea are served daily from the Tea House located at the lobby and expertly crafted cocktails are also served at the Lobby Bar. The resort’s lagoon-style pool, complete with swim-up bar offers a relaxing oasis for hotel guests to enjoy. The resort also boasts over 500 square metres of event space ranging from executive airconditioned meeting rooms to a ballroom to suit corporate or social events.
Originally opened in 1933 by Samoan entrepreneur and tourism pioneer Aggie Grey, the hotel became a popular meeting place for American servicemen stationed in Samoa during World War II. Over time, the hotel gained a loyal fan base of celebrities and VIPs, including many notable actors such as Marlon Brando, and developed a reputation for its world-class offering. Today, the Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey’s Hotel & Bungalows is renowned as an icon of Samoa, bringing together old-world charm and Samoan hospitality.
Recently promoted Cluster General Manager for the Sheraton Samoa Resorts that includes Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey’s Hotel & Bungalows, Mr Sunil Rawat who brings an extensive 21 years of experience in leading hotels and resorts across India and Australia, is excited to welcome guests back.
