The Virginian Lodge to debuts in Jackson Hole

The Virginian LodgeThe Virginian Lodge in Jackson, Wyo., unveils a complete transformation encompassing 165 all-new guest rooms and suites, a central courtyard with the town’s largest all-season outdoor pool, a new welcoming lobby, and rugged yet refined amenities.

On the heels of the property’s debut, new food and beverage concepts will join in late Spring 2022, including Billy’s Burgers, a local favorite that will be coming out of retirement and finding a new home at The Virginian alongside The Virginian Saloon, an iconic watering hole, and Ginny’s Bottle Shop, a finely curated drive-thru liquor store. A pillar of the Jackson community since its original opening in 1965 and a beloved spot for locals and travelers alike known by its nickname “The Virg,” The Virginian Lodge embodies the great American roadside motor lodge, thoughtfully redesigned for today’s modern traveler.

“We are thrilled to welcome guests and locals back to our reimagined, contemporary lodge,” said Stacey King Brogan, general manager, The Virginian Lodge. “It’s been an honor to thoughtfully restore and modernize this legend of a property while keeping intact its sense of community and laid-back hospitality, and we’ve had a whole lot of fun. With its unique location on 13 acres and only a few minutes’ walk from the town center of Jackson, the revamped Virginian Lodge is the ideal basecamp to access the world-class outdoor recreation in Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks.”

NYC-based interior design team, GOODRICH, led The Virginian’s redesign, creating an approachable mountain look that honors The Virginian’s rich past – one inspired by the classic Western novel (and television show of the same name) that told the story of a mysterious and skilled stranger, immortalizing a love affair with the American cowboy. Today, travelers can create their own stories within the Virginian’s walls and discover the magic of the west.

The Lodge

Upon entering the Lodge’s lobby, guests are greeted by a charming vintage check-in counter, genuine warm Western hospitality, and a sign reading, “When you call me that, SMILE!” which pays homage to the novel. Restored vintage furniture and wagon wheel chandeliers create a cozy sitting area which invites guests to gather and connect. Locally roasted coffee, organic tea, and artisan hot cocoa are available for guests to sip and enjoy while flipping through an original copy of a nineteenth century novel or browsing through The Virginian Mercantile.

Rooms and suites feature warm wood accents and Mid-century furnishings, creating spaces that are authentically western and well-appointed for the modern adventurer. Courtyard View King Rooms provide the ideal accommodation near the pool and social areas, and Bunk Adventure Camp rooms are perfect for families, friends, and groups, and sleep up to eight people while offering double bathrooms for refreshing after a day of adventure. Bright blue metal bunk beds anchor the retro rooms complemented by plaid carpeting and wood paneled walls. On the perimeter of the property, Premium Suites offer oversized accommodations in one- and two-bedroom configurations with living areas and kitchenettes. Every room has oversized racks for hanging and airing out adventure gear and sliding wooden barn doors, for access into the tiled bathrooms. Room rates start at $199/night.

The Courtyard

Serving as the heartbeat of the hotel, The Virginian’s oversized courtyard offers gathering spots around cozy firepits and Adirondack chairs where guests and locals are invited to sit back, take in the panoramic vistas, and share stories of their adventures in the great outdoors. Anchoring the courtyard is Jackson’s largest all-season outdoor heated pool with mountain views and two new oversized hot tubs, the perfect place to relax after a long day of adventure. The expansive courtyard transitions seasonally, welcoming guests year-round for interactive programming and curated activities including fireside s’mores and cozy pop-up igloos in the winter, wine tastings and musical concerts in the summer, and yoga classes, outdoor workshops, picnics and a bike-in themed movies series.

New Culinary Concepts Arrive Spring 2022

Billy’s Burgers, once a Jackson classic serving giant burgers made from scratch, will be reborn in a new space that honors the original and will feature hot commodities like Billy’s Giant Hamburger, Billy’s Hot Pastrami and Swiss, and Loaded Fries. The lively and always fun Virginian Saloon, Jackson’s landmark drinkery, will return and bring people together for spirited debauchery and the ultimate après experience. Leveraging raw and natural materials, the Saloon is outfitted in dark wood paneling, log beams, and circular banquettes all centered around a roaring stone fireplace reflective of Jackson’s natural landscape. Serving craft cocktails, local beers, and hand-selected wines, the Saloon will provide live entertainment and seasonally opens to an indoor/outdoor patio area within the larger courtyard space. In Spring 2022, Ginny’s Bottle Shop will make its debut as the hotel’s onsite liquor store with a drive-through window curating craft cocktail kits, signature sloshies, and a unique selection of wines and beers. As Jackson’s only drive-through liquor store, Ginny’s will entice guests to stop by and stock up for a picnic before they hit the trail or swing through on their way to the mountain with “chairlift cocktails to-go.” Rounding out the culinary offerings,The Virginian Restaurant is currently open daily serving a hearty breakfast and lunch menu made from scratch.
