Manor Group, the Singapore-based pioneering real estate investment and development company, and AKARYN Hotel Group, the luxury boutique hotel and beach resort specialist, have demonstrated their unwavering confidence in Thailand’s tourism industry with the expansion of akyra Manor Chiang Mai, the iconic urban retreat nestled in the hip Nimmanhaemin quarter of this cool, cultural city.
Unveiled in November 2021, the same month that Thailand started welcoming international visitors for quarantine-free vacations, the new Manor North & South wing will more than double the room count at akyra Manor Chiang Mai, as 32 new stylish Deluxe Rooms complement the existing 23 spacious Premier Suites and seven spectacular Manor Suites. Created by Hyphen Architects, the visionary interior design studio, the new wing perfectly captures the contemporary vibe of Chiang Mai’s trendiest district, with its chic cafés and boutiques, while also reflecting the classical charm of northern Thailand’s ancient Lanna Kingdom.
The wing comprises two low-rise, four-storey buildings, which are defined by a spacious open-plan layout and plenty of natural light. Colours flow across the ceiling, creating a fluid quality that gently escorts travellers along their journey, while the central courtyard with shady trees and relaxed seating is blessed by a refreshing breeze from Doi Suthep mountain, creating an exceptional venue for intimate events. The new Deluxe Rooms (all of which offer 30 square metres of living space) are designed with a lighter colour palette, reflective materials and bold prints to create an immediate impact. Follows the hotel’s ethos that the bath should be at the forefront of the guest experience, each white bathroom is bright, inviting and adorned with hand-picked fixtures and fittings.
The expansion of akyra Manor Chiang Mai has been timed perfectly to coincide with the reopening of Thailand. This forms part of Manor Group and AKARYN Hotel Group’s deep commitment to the sustainable growth and long-term prosperity of the Kingdom’s tourism industry.
“The past two years have been life-changing and global hospitality industry is among the industries that have been hit the hardest. Throughout these trying times we have remained resilient and continued to operate, thanks to the dedication and hard work of the team at akyra Manor Chiang Mai. To ensure that we are prepared for the new normal of travelling, we are SHA Plus-certified and ready for the opening up of the skies and borders. We look forward to welcoming back our guests, and I am sure that akyra Manor hotel will help put Chiang Mai back on the map for international travellers,” said John Lim, Chairman of Manor Group.
“The opening of our stunning new wing could not have been timed better. The last two years have been more challenging than anyone could have imagined, but we never lost sight of our vision for the future. Hyphen Architects have done an amazing job in weaving the passion and spirit of the akyra brand together with the authentic culture of Chiang Mai. This expansion is a real statement of our confidence in Thailand and I can’t wait to welcome our cherished guests back to the Land of Smiles,” said Anchalika Kijkanakorn, founder & managing director of AKARYN Hotel Group.
With this expansion, AKARYN Hotel Group now operates a total of 302 rooms, suites and villas in Thailand, spanning two luxurious Aleenta-branded beachfront resorts and two akyra lifestyle hotels. This means that visitors can now rediscover Thailand in a choice of stunning settings, with options for curious explorers to pick their favourite destination or book an exotic twin-centre holiday. For example, an upcountry retreat at the new-look akyraManor Chiang Mai can be combined with an energising urban escape at akyra Thonglor Bangkok. Alternatively, Aleenta Hua Hin-Pranburi and Aleenta Phuket-Phang Nga provide pristine pool villas and residences for families and friends seeking a five-star vacation in paradise.
Whichever option they choose, every guest can rest assured that their stay is in harmony with the environment. AKARYN Hotel Group is dedicated to sustainability and has removed single-use plastics from its entire portfolio. The group also works hand-in-hand with the Pure Blue Foundation, which was founded by Anchalika Kijkanakorn and focuses on protecting native ecosystems and empowering local communities.
