The Star welcomes Dorsett to the Gold Coast

Dorsett The Star Gold CoastThe Star Gold Coast has welcomed Australia’s first Dorsett hotel to the Gold Coast on the day of a special milestone. Construction of the Hotel, within the 178m tower reached practical completion, with its doors scheduled to open on Boxing Day 2021.

Dorsett Gold Coast General Manager Michael Foster said, “Today marks an exciting milestone as we move a step closer to welcoming guests, as we announce that the Dorsett Gold Coast will officially open on Boxing Day.”

“Here on the Coast, we’re thrilled to be the very first Dorsett Hotel in Australia and offer a new, young, vibrant brand to our city,” says Michael.

Dorsett Hospitality International already has a total of 55 properties in 25 major cities across the world and has identified the Gold Coast as the perfect location for its first Australian hotel.

President and executive director Dorsett Hospitality International President and executive director Winnie Chiu said, “We are very excited to be opening our first Dorsett Hotel in Australia on the Gold Coast! Located within The Star Gold Coast’s world-class entertainment and leisure precinct, the Dorsett Gold Coast’s guests can experience world-class bars and restaurants, a theatre, conference, and entertainment facilities.

Destination Gold Coast Consortium Project Director Jaime Cali said “Dorsett Gold Coast is located in the soon to be completed 53 storey hotel and apartment tower and construction has created 1,500 jobs, and we look forward to continuing to be a major employer on the Gold Coast when we open.”

Dorsett’s bold expansion will continue in the coming months and years with new-build Dorsett Hotels in Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth following the Gold Coast opening, showing confidence in the Australian tourism industry’s ability to recover from the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Before the Dorsett Gold Coast welcomes its first guests, a first look inside some of its 313 rooms will be revealed in the coming weeks. Locals can also expect to see the Dorsett Gold Coast caravan on the road December 4 – 5, offering exciting giveaways and prizes.
