Situated opposite the New Zealand International Convention Centre, the 194-room hotel is Sudima Hotels’ seventh investment in New Zealand hotels and infrastructure and advances the group’s focus on sustainable and socially responsible best practice.
Sudima Auckland City represents a $65 million investment in the local economy. The Kiwi hotel group also has two other hotels in development, a $35 million property in Kaikōura and a $35 million hotel in Queenstown.

Equipped with the high-quality service and amenities expected from a new modern hotel, Sudima Auckland City has an innovative new addition to further enhance guests’ stays: the u-room.
Designed around the principles of self-care, the u-room concept promotes guests’ wellbeing while travelling with little touches that make a big difference. Furnished with everything a guest would expect, the u-rooms also features timber floors, natural muted colours; a bed that’s centred in the room, facing the window to maximise the view; a selfcare pack with a selection of healthy snacks and little pamper luxuries; and a yoga kit including instructional videos available on the in-room TV.
In line with this wellbeing theme, the innovative modern-Asian plant-focused eatery, East (which is located at the hotel on the ground floor) offers a pan-Asian inspired vegetarian lunch and dinner menu that has proved popular and is becoming a hotspot in the Auckland food scene. East offers sustainable, health-conscious eating without sacrificing taste.
The team of chefs, representing culinary talent from Japan, Hong Kong, China, Thailand, India and Sri Lanka, take inspiration from the near and far East to present an innovative and flavourful vegetarian menu designed to share. The drinks menu features all organic and vegan friendly wines, bespoke cocktails and sustainable New Zealand craft beer.
Les says the new hotel is a reflection of Sudima Hotels’ pursuit of continually improving the guest experience with its big focus on self-care. It is also focussed on minimising impact on the environment, and as such will also undertake carboNZero certification of the new hotel as soon as able in-line with Sudima Hotels’ other hotels as New Zealand’s only carboNZero credited hotel group.
