Collective Retreats – expanding beyond tented accommodation

Collective Retreats, the experiential travel company providing intimate destination retreats in unique locations, is excited to announce its highly anticipated new accommodation type, the Outlook Shelter. Beginning a brand expansion beyond tented accommodations, the new model is custom built and the first of its kind. The 300 -square-foot modular luxury hotel room will provide an elevated travel experience where indoor architecture seamlessly compliments outdoor grandeur with design-forward fully sheltered structures.

Following the success of Collective Governors Island’s nearly sold out inaugural season, the Outlook Shelter will give guests stand-alone accommodations with full climate control, luxury finishes, and a spa-style soaking tub for guests to relax in while taking in New York’s iconic views.

“We’re excited to introduce our guests to our newest innovation, the Outlook Shelter. Over the last few years, our team has been working to perfect our guest experience and we’re thrilled to be expanding our offerings beyond our beloved Summit and Journey Tents,” said Collective Retreats CEO and Founder Peter Mack. “Collective Retreats has always operated with the mission to push the boundaries and traditional notions of a hotel and create personalized and transformative travel experiences that generate indelible memories and guide our guests on their own journey toward personal fulfillment.”

The Outlook Shelter is currently scheduled to arrive for its inaugural season at Collective Governors Island in August and will accommodate up to two adult travelers and either an additional adult or two children. Each room will come with the same comforts found in the Summit Tent – full private en-suite bathroom with rain-style shower; hot running water; full flush toilet; and environmentally-friendly spa bath products and amenities. Unique to the Outlook Shelter, guests can lounge in the “Living Room” with a coffee table and couches or outside on one of two private decks decorated with Adirondack chairs where they can watch the sunrise while sipping on coffee or tea from the in-room bar.

“The Outlook Shelter marks a new era of innovation and industry leadership for Collective Retreats as our custom-designed and purpose-built hotel rooms will pioneer a new category of guest accommodation,” said Collective Retreats Chief Development Officer Kerry Houghton. “We’re thrilled to bring this innovative new offering to market, providing an unmatched experience for our guests.”

In addition to being the first company to provide guests with an overnight guest experience on the historic Governors Island, the company will also be the first to offer a modular luxury hotel room in New York City. The introduction of this design-driven product signals a time of expansion and success for the brand as the company recently completed its $15 million Series A round of funding and are looking to expand to new locations.

Since Collective Retreats’ launch in 2015, the experiential travel company quickly took the country by storm with locations in Vail, Colorado; Big Sky, Montana; Hudson, New York; Hill Country, Texas; and Governors Island, New York. Following the Outlook Shelter’s inaugural season at Collective Governors Island, the company will look to introduce the model at additional retreat locations with the ultimate goal of operating year-round retreats.
