Fusion Hotel Group has announced the appointment of David Roberts as its new chief operating officer (COO), bringing on board a seasoned professional with some 20 years’ experience in the Asian hospitality sector at a time when the hotel group is significantly expanding its presence in the region.
Canadian-born Roberts joins the Vietnam-based team at Fusion from his previous base in Thailand where he spent 9 years with Onyx Hospitality Group where he spent six years in the corporate office as vice-president, overseeing hotel openings, operations and growth in the Southeast Asian market. Prior to that, he served the group on property as a cluster general manager.
In his most recent role in Thailand, Roberts oversaw global development for Dusit International where he focused on growth in Asia Pacific, Middle East and Europe.
“David comes to us with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the industry,” said Peter Meyer, Vice Chairman / CEO of Lodgis Hospitality Holdings Pte. Ltd. (“Lodgis”), the owning company of Fusion. “His appointment will enhance Fusion’s reputation as one of the world’s leading wellness-driven brands.”
Fusion currently manages 22 hotels and resorts in Vietnam and Thailand, three of which launched in the past 12 months: the 242-key Fusion Resort & Villas Danang; 238-key Fusion Suites Hanoi; and HIIVE Binh Duong, which made a brand debut focusing on business travellers.
“In recent years, ‘wellness’ is becoming a central guest priority. At Fusion, it has been a part of who we are since our 2008 founding,” said Meyer. “We were the first in Vietnam to launch an all-inclusive spa concept and we are dedicated to creating wellness-inspired lodging products geared to our guests’ well-being and health, whether their travel is for pleasure or work.”
