IHG Hotels & Resorts has appointed Marcello Ventisei as the new cluster general manager for Kimpton Blythswood Square and voco Grand Central, succeeding Daniel Moran who took a position at Kimpton’s Edinburgh location last August.
With eight months of experience as the general manager at voco Grand Central, Ventisei will now oversee both central city hotels, aiming to sustain their status as premier destinations for both leisure and business travelers. Born and raised in Glasgow, Ventisei’s extensive background in the hospitality industry includes significant leadership roles at renowned UK hotels and resorts, starting his career at the Grand Hotel in Brighton.
Ventisei expressed enthusiasm for the unique characteristics and shared qualities of both properties, emphasizing the integral role of the experienced team in maintaining high hospitality standards.
Additionally, last summer marked the reopening of the Spa at Blythswood Square after a major refurbishment funded by the largest spa investment by IHG Hotels & Resorts in the UK. The renovation was inspired by the Scottish Hebrides’ natural scenery, introducing the country’s first snow shower, a Himalayan salt room, seaweed baths, sound therapies, and an enhanced hydrotherapy suite. The spa also improved its relaxation pools, crystal steam room, hydrotherapy pool, and expanded its treatment rooms to nine as part of the extensive refurbishment project.
