of Christopher Smith as the new General Manager, bringing a fresh wave of energy, innovation, and two decades of hospitality expertise to the vibrant Seminyak locale.
Chris’s journey in the hospitality world commenced in 1999 at the Sheraton Brisbane Hotel, where his odyssey began in the heart of the kitchen as a Chef. Fueled by an unwavering passion for culinary arts, he embarked on a remarkable career that saw him explore diverse facets of the industry. From Chef de Cuisine at the JW Marriott Hotel, Hong Kong, to the role of Executive Sous Chef at the Singapore Marriott Hotel, Chris’s culinary prowess set the stage for an extraordinary adventure.
In 2012, Chris embraced the challenge of The Stones Hotel, Autograph Collection, Legian Bali, during its pre-opening phase, assuming the mantle of Executive Chef. His expertise in orchestrating successful hotel launches extended to task force assignments, contributing to the grand openings of Marriott International properties in Singapore, Fiji, Thailand, and Vietnam.
In 2016, Chris showcased his talents as the Executive Chef at Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort & Spa, playing a pivotal role in the hotel’s triumphant debut. More recently, he assumed the role of Director of Operations at Renaissance Nusa Dua Bali Resort, where his leadership and operational acumen continued to shine.
Making Bali his home alongside his wife, Melinda, and their two canine companions, Cooper and Jax, Chris not only brings a wealth of professional experience but a genuine connection to the island’s vibrant community. During his leisure moments, he finds joy in pursuits such as running, swimming, and cycling, embodying the spirit of Bali’s active and dynamic lifestyle.
