Following a $50 million transformation, Westin Grand Cayman has announced the appointment of Michael Zolcak as General Manager of Outdoor Operations. Zolcak brings a wealth of hospitality management experience to his role, overseeing the operation of extensive open-air services and amenities across the resort, including Tortuga Beach Grill and Bar, Hibiscus Spa, and the largest freshwater pool on Grand Cayman. Additional areas of oversight for Zolcak include cabana initiatives and a variety of alfresco activities amid the resort’s enviable setting along world-famous Seven Mile Beach.
Zolcak joined Westin Grand Cayman following a two-year run as Hotel Manager of the Mayfair Hotel & Spa in Coconut Grove in Miami, Florida. Nearly all of his previous hospitality experience was earned in the Miami area as well, including a turn as opening General Manager of Talde restaurant at Confidante Hotel Miami Beach, part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt; Director of Banquets for Thompson Hotels – Two Roads Hospitality; and first Director of Events, then Director of Banquets for Eden Roc Miami Beach, part of Destination Hotels & Resorts. Zolcak got his start with Marriott International as Senior Banquet Manager of The Vinoy Renaissance St. Petersburg Resort & Golf Club.
Born and raised in Griffith, Indiana, Zolcak is a proud alumnus of Purdue University, from which he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management. He’ll be enjoying his first employment opportunity outside of the U.S. with his wife Tatiana and two dogs Mia and Khaleesi. In his spare time Zolcak likes to stay active, explore other cultures through travel, experience culinary variation, attend concerts and festivals, and simply relax while visiting the beach or boating.
