As Director of Sales and Marketing for mid-market’s BEI San Francisco, Mimi Carter showcases the story of its extensive rebrand, drawing inspiration from the independent lifestyle hotel.
She brings over 20 years of experience in hospitality sales and marketing and a strong track record in strategic planning, contract negotiations, and partnership management, acting as a natural leader in the industry.
Carter joined Pivot Hotels and Resorts to drive revenue with the BEI sales team and lead their forward-thinking approach with key insights into travel trade operations.
“Working together as a team, we hope to create distinct experiences for guests, which guides our goals of success; it’s rewarding to see our impact,” she explains. With a passion for hospitality, she carefully approaches each decision with integrity while building the foundation of the BEI brand—”stay, work, and play.”
Born in Taiwan and raised in Northern California’s South Bay, Carter ascribes her work ethic to her resilient mother, who moved to America, petitioned for her family’s emigration, and held two jobs for 25 years to support a better life.
In 1996, Carter earned her B.S. in hospitality management from San Jose State University and promptly worked as a sales manager at Hyatt Hotels Corporation for two years. Delving further into her hospitality career, she next was a senior sales manager at four-star Sheraton Fisherman’s Wharf, then Pan Pacific Hotels Group—at which she developed her refined management style and brand-selling technique.
In 2003, Carter joined the team at Clift, a Morgans Hotel Group property, at which she rose up the ranks from senior management to the position of director of sales. Following her eight-year post, she continued as the director of sales for JRK Hotel Group and then for the renowned Autograph Collection’s Hotel Adagio. When Pivot Hotels and Resorts presented a new opportunity in 2018, Carter eagerly began her role as Director of Sales and Marketing of BEI San Francisco.
